Rain all afternoon, and we needed it.

October is traditionally our driest month, so I guess Mother Nature is giving things a good soak before we get there.
Being a weather geek, my wife and I went out riding around the check out the flooding. Most creeks are well out of their banks, and I came across two bridges that were washed over and impassible.

Believe it or not, October is our second-wettest month in DFW. The wettest is May.

DFW - Normals, Means, and Extremes

July and August are unsurprisingly our two driest months, followed by a third-place tie between ... January and November.

And it looks like another hurricane brewing up in the Gulf.

I live on a mountaintop and have seen people for no earthly reason drive into floodwaters, and I'm not criticizing but it baffles me how dozens of people die in a massive storm that's been brewing for a week when weather science and forecasting are so advanced and emergency preparedness is so thorough. And fukchead Paraffin Face plans to abolish the NOAA and the NWS...

P.S. My neighbors let their kids play outside during Sandy and after they went back inside, a tree fell right where they were playing.

Tempering my comments. 27.5 inches of rain in Busick, N.C. Floodwaters to the roof in some gorges beside rivers. People on the roof of Erwin hospital awaiting rescue. I read where emergency services told people to drop what they were doing and run.

2024: The Year Without a Fall.

Two really bad hurricanes and a heat wave in the plains. My high today will be 95° and the high tomorrow will be 96°, one degree shy of the record for the day.

A front is supposed to knock us back to the 80s next week, but lows in the 40s are not even a rumor right now.

It was 44 degrees when I went on my run this morning. It was 70 by the time I got back.

    Now it’s 82.
