Long ago, back in '78 or so when the first Halloween movie came out, there was a movie theater here who had a guy who dressed up in a mask with a big plastic machete who would come through an emergency exit up front by the screen at a dramatically appropriate moment. He'd scare the snot out of the teenies. Worked great until the local PD rolled up on a routine patrol and caught him hanging in the alley out back. He nearly got shot.

 

Sounds like my freshman year at Fresno State. They showed "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" at the quad one night, and one of the jokers from the floor got the bright idea to rent a chainsaw. As everyone was walking back to their dorms afterwards, he revved that thing up nearby and people were flying everywhere. He somehow snuck back in before the campus police could catch him.

All you had to do was mention "Chainsaw Jeff" from then on and the whole dorm floor would crack up.

On the drive to Florida this weekend, I noticed that the signs at the state line now read, “Welcome to the free state of Florida.” That “free” was added recently.
