You know this is a silly world when Virginia Tech and Miami are the establishment ACC programs in conference games.

I think Cal got screwed on the third down spot, but now it makes no difference

The Yahoo! podcast made this point, and it's right on the money: The weeks that look on paper to be the least interesting always turn out to be compelling. Mizzou-ATM was the only game between two AP-ranked teams this week. And here we are. Alabama loses at Vanderbilt, which has a loss at Georgia State to its name. Tennessee loses at Arkansas. This means at least one of the Bama-Tennessee pair will have multiple losses in two weeks.

They might have to grit their teeth and drop Alabama all the way down to No. 4.

In all seriousness, though, five of the top 11 lost — and another one is on the ropes at halftime — so Alabama might have once again lucked up and picked the perfect early-season week to shit the bed.
Figure Ohio State, Texas and Georgia are 1-2-3 in some order. Oregon and Penn State slot in at 4 and 5. Ole Miss is the next team that did not lose (assuming Miami can't come back), so by poll logic Alabama probably won't drop lower than No. 7.
Alabama is fucking Dracula, man. You can't ever put the stake in them no matter how hard you try. If this had happened to any other team they'd be lucky to stay in the Top 25. Watch how far No. 9 Missouri drops this week.
Alabama? They always get at least one mulligan.

Meanwhile, in Storrs, we had this.
No word on whether gamblers stormed the field in response (UConn was a 17.5-point favorite, but the O/U was 48.5).

Catching up on a nutso day after slogging through two games in the heat today. Good thing there is a 12-team playoff this year. Maybe.

I figure Missouri to slot in at 14-16. If they’re lucky.

    Edit: “If its lucky.”
