Only two pumps. Third one draws the flag.

If you want to feel gross about yourself and your life choices, Tuesday football cranks up tonight with the longstanding grudge match the is Liberty-FIU.

I’ll probably try to stream the audio while making the rounds tonight.

Would it be so hard to have a 30-day window beginning the day ater the championship game and then a two-week window after spring practices?

Simple common sense has never been a strong point of the NCAA rules.

Pretty much a paper move, but ...

Interesting. No more “national signing day” with all the hoopla? Will this reduce the hat-tee-team reveal events? Affect the recruiting sites-pubs?

Will the hype be the same for Billy Bob Snotpicker’s “contract signing?”

Absolutely. If a salary cap is instituted, the intrigue will be even greater.

Let's also do away with the term "commit."

    Games I like this week:
    • Syracuse -4 1/2 at North Carolina State — Syracuse is not half bad, and North Carolian State is an absolute mess. Giving less than a touchdown? Abso-freaking-lutely.

    • Louisiana-Monroe -6 1/2 vs. Southern Miss — Same as the first game on the list. ULM is not awful, Southern Miss is, and ULM is on the right side of a one-touchdown line at home? Yes, please.
Also, Southern Miss is probably in the death spiral stage of the coaching cycle. They’ll be lucky to win two more games this year (this ain’t one of them) and fire the coach in November. Could be some value to be had while it plays out.

    • Illinois -19 1/2 vs. Purdue — I think Purdue is on the short list of worst P4 teams, and it’s not going to get better soon. This is the first of four games in five weeks against ranked Big Ten teams.

    • Minnesota -5 1/2 at UCLA — Nobody loses 34-13 like UCLA. That’s awesome when they’re getting 27 points. When they’re only getting 5 1/2 against somebody not named Purdue? Go the other way.

    • San Diego State -2 1/2 at Wyoming — Nice spot to go against Wyoming. They picked off a bad Air Force team in their last game, which might have kept this line a little lower than it might otherwise be. They’re still pretty bad.

And some games I want to like but can’t:
    • Tennessee -16 1/2 vs. Florida — Florida appears to have stopped its freefall, at least for the moment. I’m not sure if they’ll show up again and keep this close, or get back to where they were a few weeks ago and lose 42-10.

    • Missouri -27.5 at UMass — Missouri ought to roll, but has not looked good at all the past two games. The number is a little too big to feel confident about.

    • Georgia -33 vs. Mississippi State — Kind of a blend of those first two SEC games. Mississippi State was competitive enough against Texas to cover a huge spread, and Georgia has had some meh moments the last two weeks. But would 51-0 really shock anyone?

    • Boise State -20 1/2 at Hawaii — Boise is on a roll, yet this might be too much to lei (see what I did there?) on the road at Hawaii. The only reason to bet this game is because it’s the late night special, which means I’ll probably do it and hate myself for it.
