I know @Batman has shared before about how utterly bizarre the 1904 Olympics in St. Louis were, including the utterly horrifying Anthropology Days at the concurrent World’s Fair. Today I learned of something equally horrifying to add to his collection.

Elsewhere it was noted that of the 43 babies in the exhibit, 39 died.

The complete and utter disregard for human life in the late 19th and early 20th century will never cease to amaze me.

I see lots of picture books on Prime but no real narrative history. But it looks like there’s a documentary on Prime called “The World’s Greatest Fair.” Might have to check it out.

Flying into Milwaukee tomorrow evening before driving to Kohler. Any good dinner recs downtown before I make the drive? Could be something as simple as a good brewery with a pizza option. Never been to Wisconsin so I’m going in kind of blind.

Mader's is a phenomenal classic German restaurant. Plenty of great beer options there.

There's also a Hofbrau beer hall about two doors down.

Also saw Fixture Pizza Pub and Mob Craft Beer as options. Appreciate the tip on Mader’s, will look into that too.

Need some recommendations for Portland/Augusta and Boston.

We're putting the kids on a plane to Birmingham a couple of days after Christmas, and we're heading northeast. As soon as we get to Boston on the 27th, we'll head up to Portland, spend a day or so there, then over to Augusta, then back to Boston for three days, including New Year's Eve. We're staying downtown in Boston.

If you’re downtown/lower east side and craving wings, go to Points East Pub. A corner bar that serves meaty, chargrilled wings. Good beer selection and plenty of TVs for the games too.

In the Seaport there are a few taprooms/restaurants for local breweries. Trillium is probably the best.

There's a small hole in the wall sort of bar named Dock Fore in downtown Portland that's one of my favorite spots when I visit.

Novare Res in Portland is a great beer bar. It has stuff you won't see anywhere else...

Bissell Bros in Portland is or was considered one of the best breweries in the country. I think Maine Beer Co. is just off 95 south of Portland.

Awesome rec, thanks Gutter. Super friendly bar staff, wings were great, beer prices reasonable. Would have hung around a bit longer if I didn't have to drive the hour up north.
