They couldn’t. You need a timeout to challenge and they didn’t have any.

At that point they did have one left. The announcers mentioned it as reason they probably didn’t challenge because they didn’t want to lose it. They used it to advance the ball after collier made the go ahead shot

I thought that was a reset timeout, which can’t be used to challenge.

EDIT: Sorry, I thought he was talking about challenging the jump ball call, not the block. My bad.

We are in Minnesota for Parents Weekend for my older kid. The bar/restaurant where we had dinner was packed with the game on the sound system and people were going batshit.

Angel Reese is ticked she's not making any money off the league either. Somebody is.

Angel whining that she's under water financially because she can't cover her $8,000/month rent on what she makes left me lacking sympathy.

True - at least in college you could get NIL money and the school would still cover your room and board.

She's welcome to find a profession that will pay her a level commensurate with her lifestyle.

    Like every other person.

I didn't take it as her complaining so much as highlighting the ridiculousness of the pay disparity that exists in the W.

She's obviously doing fine with her endorsements. But she's also a star athlete in a major metropolitan area and the team salary is ridiculously low. Could she find something cheaper? Of course, but I doubt it would be adequate for the security/privacy needs of someone with her level of celebrity.

Elena Delle Donne lives a couple of doors down from my brother-in-law in a D.C. suburb. Her house is really nice, and way more expensive than one could afford on just the high end veteran WNBA salary. But it's still a relatively modest home. And it stands out for the level of security. Only one or two other homes in the neighborhood are completely gated off.

Their team salaries are about to go way up, though, when they opt out of the CBA in a couple of weeks, because there's finally money there with the new t.v. contract, the big increase in fan attendance and the addition of more games.
