He can still do 60 Minutes, and, a morning show was appropriate.

Not everyone who watches one watches the other. The vigorous examination should be on as many shows as possible.

And yeah, King and the football player were like, Whaaaaaat!!?

No, the morning show was not appropriate specifically because of King and Burleson's reactions and lack of contributions. Also, the overall time offered to any one topic on a morning show is not nearly enough for an issue as complex as Israeli-Palestinian relations.

These morning shows are designed for 5 minutes of soft peddling whatever the guest is promoting before they jump to the next commercial and next topic. They're not news programs. They're infotainment.

Their (totally oblivioius) reactions were perfect for what was going down.

Great, 60 Minutes is perfect for that so you're right.

    Normally, sure, and you're right.

But that's why what took place, the opposite of soft peddling ... real time capital J journalism ... was great (and perfect).

60 Minutes won't come within a mile of that moment no matter how hard they try (should they go there).

He seems to be celebrated in some corners, but not all. Which is like most writers.

    ^^^ Meh.

Listen to Dokoupil's full question, it wasn't solely the "backpack of an extremist" line which was pretty good and even a writer like Ta-Nehisi would agree.

    P.S. Thanks for the link.

This is the best reaction I've seen (starts at 50:50), which I'm sure will surprise no one. I've yet to see anyone (small sample size, but it does include this thread) react on the journalism question in a way that is not easily predictable from their general political view. Have you?

I love that equal to how Dokoupil approached it although this guy is much more intense.

"In this case it's just a bad book that'll be forgotten in a few weeks."

    Yowza.

As compared with “I went there for a week and am an expert on thousands of years of Israel! And Israel is America and America is Israel … RACIST!”

    Surprising if Coates wrote that.

It is paraphrasing Matti Friedman from that podcast.
