This thread is often mind boggling. A-plus your effort, though, Della.

My high school started varsity soccer in 1966. I joined the JV program as a 9th grader in 1968 but had played all through elementary and middle school because we had a gym teacher at my elementary school who had served in the Army in Germany and fallen in love with the game.

If we had an attorney general worthy of the name, the very first instant any of the MAGGATs raised even one breath about obstructing or impeding FEMA rescue efforts, federal marshals would be ordered to make very public arrests of anyone who tried.

In the immortal words of Bobby Knight, "I'm not here to fuck around. Now you may be, but I'm not."

However that might upset the Rupert Murdoch media screech machine, so I'm sure Merrick simply rolled over peacefully and went back to sleep.

Keep up the good work, Della. I've axed my X account so it's nice to catch a roundup of the crazy in this thread.

You've come a long way since your days as Clubber Slang's translator.

We had armed idiots a couple of counties up harassing FEMA yesterday.

I almost wish FEMA would say “Fuck y’all, we’re out. You figure it out by yourself with no help.”

    I know they won’t, though.

Unfortunately, it does seem like journalism really is almost dead. It is showing us. Maybe we just need to believe it.

There is still great journalism being done against all financial odds. But American political reporting needs to be torn down to the studs for a complete renovation. It’s madness. The New York Times in particular seems to be stuck in amber and is coming to resemble its coverage from Berlin in the late 30s.
