San Jose State has its own police force that is pretty good. They acquitted themselves pretty well when a guy with a gun got into a building after hours before the pandemic.

The problem is that campus is pretty open. There’s not a good way to keep tabs on her when she’s not in the training facility or the gym where they play.

I almost wonder if she went that far. I can't imagine there's a lot of money in the realm of Mountain West volleyball, NIL or otherwise, and NorCal is infamously expensive. She had information that she knew she could monetize to keep herself in a lifestyle to which she had been accustomed.

That last phrase makes it sound maybe more pejorative than intended, but if you're having a tough time and maybe you're not doing so hot academically or you just need cash, that's probably a ripcord you're tempted to pull.

The funny thing is even at the D-II level, I've covered hitters who can get on the end of one. Of all the people out there who a delicate libero should be afraid of there are probably dozens of cis women in D-1 volleyball today who have a heavier arm than her, not to mention in the recent past. Logan Tom, Ogonna Nnamani, Foluke Akinradewo, Destinee Hooker and so on and so on.

I had heard that the SDSU player took a hard shot, but hadn't seen it until now. As someone who watches a lot of volleyball, you see at least one of those a match. That one might not have even been in the top 10 hard hits on a player I've seen this year. And she freaking dug it. San Jose State eventually won the point but not until they had to set up another shot. These stupid comments, from Trump or otherwise, are also clearly from people who don't watch the sport. Or sports in general.

Makes selling feet pics seem downright respectable.

I saw this story floating around this weekend but having watched it, it’s really a damming indictment of where journalism is these days. The player fell back to absorb the force of the ball and make it easier to control. It looks bad because she makes an exaggerated movement, but if you just watch that clip, there’s no way in hell you can say she was hurt. Clearly people running with the story haven’t seen the clip and are taking Trump and the NY Post at face value which is always a bad sign.

I doubt Trump has watched enough volleyball to know hard spikes are part of the game, no matter the gender of the players.

Has the player in question even been positively identified as Trans? I don't follow this story to no end, but have never seen actial confirmation.

No she hasn't been. San Jose State, the MW, and the NCAA have rightfully protected her rights in this situation and she hasn't publicly spoken that I am aware of. That said, she probably is. There hasn't been anything like boxing situation where they swiftly proved she was a biological female (not that they needed to do that either). But this point adds to the BS that she was outed by a teammate. I am sure there are some privacy and medical lawsuits on the horizon as well.

Not just a teammate. A co-captain. Some leadership.

And now she's tweeting things like good for Nevada for not playing them, which obviously negatively impacts the whole team. They should boot her.
