And in this day and age you immediately can undermind his success as now everyone on his roster can leave tomorrow

Why are you offended by a coach manipulating to elevate his long time assistant? I think loyalty is a virtue.

Offended is a strong word for an entertainment. But it is something I am interested in and people naturally form opinions about their interest.

My opinion mostly comes down to the idea that these are jobs (granted lavishly-compensated ones) and not hereditary titles. The dean of the law school at UVA doesn’t get to clinch his most favored associate taking over by manipulating the timing of his retirement. The provost doesn’t get to effectively lock out students from enrolling elsewhere at a critical inflection point by virtue of when she decides to decamp for Costa Rica. Coaches will live if their sense of entitlement is shaved down 15 percent or so.

Doesn't everyone realize Kenpom isn't good on team metrics until late December? If you know that, it's fine. Use the stats for what they're worth. It is very helpful with enough data.

I think we all realize none of the metrics are very good until then, but I don’t think Kenpom’s rankings correct as quickly as they ought to.

Here's what I would love to know about NIL: is the amount of money someone like Smith is receiving more than the amount he could get playing pro overseas? In other words, is he still playing college basketball at 24 for the money, or out of a delusion that he could still make the NBA?

Two years ago, the PAC 12 had Stanford, Cal, UCLA, USC and Washington in its fold. Now they’re flirting with Memphis. Being dead is better than being in bed with Penny Hardaway.
