Did he attend class at any of the schools or was all the coursework on-line?

Deion Sander's production company did an episode on Shedeur going to a class for the first time. He had been taking everything on-line. Only a cynic would wonder if a star quarterback could possibly flunk an on-line class with all the academic "assistance" available to athletes.

When Sanders was hired the College of Arts and Sciences tossed out their requirements to accept transfer students and now take basically anyone. The express reason was to make sure that athletes in the portal who wanted to transfer to CU were not blocked by bureaucratic academic requirements. The rationale was that the measure was necessary to stay competitive in college athletics.

So it is now quite possible for a kid to rotate through four schools, taking on-line classes. Every year after the end of the season the kid can go in and have a salary review. If he is unhappy with the number offered then he can try his luck on the open market through the portal.

And bluntly, give the job market for a "general studies" major in today's economy is it really worth it for n athlete to pursue a degree in such a major?

Even better (or worse?) it was an exhibition game.

This, plus the constantly shifting conferences, is why I have little to no interest in college sports anymore (other than the tournament, which has become a cultural icon).

And all of this for a role player who started a little over a third of his games at SMU last season.

Alabama sells out season tickets for what I’m 99 percent sure is the first time ever.

Good breakdown. I should know all that, but tend to forget it sometimes.

The annual "salary review" is what gets me.

Given how horrible Dilfer ball has been, I'm looking forward to hoops season. UAB played Western Kentucky in an exhibition yesterday. Star forward Yaxel Lindenbourg was doubtful with an sprained ankle, and Andy Kennedy said he would sit the kid if he wasn't able to move well. He put up 12 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 blocks, 1 steal.
