I have read the book (well, via audiobook) and will have more thoughts, but here's one question I've already pondered - similar to the CBS Morning News question, but also quite different:

What possible good did Coates think would come from not directly mentioning Hamas in the essay, and what possible detriment could directly addressing Hamas have done to the "it's apartheid" arc of the essay?

I do think I have an answer to that, but I'm curious what others thought.

Didn't read the book (and now Azrael is pissed at me).
