I've always been a game day voter. I like voting on Election Day. Today I voted early in NC, waiting in line for 30 minutes. (The line was overwhelmingly white and in a county in which Harris has no chance.)

My reason to go ahead and vote is an attempt at some sort of mental health. I'm such a disturbed wreck over all of this that I'm hoping having my ballot in at least calms me down knowing I've done all I can do at this point.

    I don't think it's working.

I walked up to the county Dems tent after and wished them well, thanked them and asked that they keep up the good fight. They were exceedingly nice. I don't know if they were hopeful or not.

My person printing my ballot and giving instructions pointed to Trump's oval (Harris is listed first in that section while Trump is fourth) to fill in when explaining how to do the ballot. I almost said something. I wish I had.

The workers, upon printing a first-time voter's ballot, would call out, "A first-time voter," and everyone would clap and cheer. In the moment it felt nice, but now it feels weird to me. Not sure that was appropriate. I'd never seen that before. (I've voted in a different county for the last 20 years before moving three months ago.)

Not sure I feel any better, but I had to try something. I asked for reasons for hope in this thread last night. I may ask that question daily here for the next few days, if you will indulge me.

Biden really should have just called them pieces of shit and let them do their thing.

I’ve always been an Election Day voter too, as I always liked feeling that it was a special day and voting was something out of the ordinary. But in 2020, I voted the Sunday before Election Day as I was trying to avoid any large crowds with COVID.

I debated whether or not to vote early again, then decided to do so because I have a long commute to work, didn’t want to wake up earlier to vote, and was worried that it would take a long time to vote at night when I’d be tired from the workday.

So last weekend, I went and voted. Took about 10 minutes total. No long lines, although apparently, other times that weekend had an hour wait at my polling place.

I also rationalized it as Biden had won on 2020 when I early voted, so why break up a winning combination?
