With no earthly idea of WTF "win shares" are, I am officially out of this one.

It’s basically cumulative MVP votes over the course of a player’s career.

I am guessing Al Simmons of the A's/White Sox.

And you would be absolutely correct.

An odd thing about his career: his best years and his fame came with the Athletics, but all of his all star appearances came with the White Sox. Of course, him going to Chicago coincided with the start of the ASG.

A truly great, great player who (like Jimmy Foxx) has been pretty much forgotten about.

Al Simmons and Chuck Klein (of the Phillies) are two players that always come to my mind when the subject is great players of that era whom no one remembers.

Was there only one MVP between both leagues then?

Klein playing half of his games at the Baker Bowl, with its ridiculous right-field fence, was definitely a huge advantage but he was a quality player for sure.

there were two, but for most of the 1920s, once you won the MVP, you couldn’t win again.

Only four NFC teams had a winning record in the 1970s. Name them.

Quick guess: Dallas, Minnesota, LA Rams, Washington.
