First story I found was from Alabama, but apparently this is very widespread.

Black students receive racist text messages after Trump’s win, part of apparent nationwide trend

Nagging question about one of your earlier posts:
Since you didn't vote for Trump, then why didn't you vote for Harris?

    Cannot endorse this message more.

Unless you were personally attacked by another poster – and if you were, report them to the moderators – a little grace during a time like this should go a long way.

... who has also been convicted of 34 felonies in addition to sexual assault, has been impeached twice, is awaiting two more trials who is obsessed with controlling women at any and all costs. Not to mention badly botched a pandemic.

Yet they ignored all the above and put him back in office. Proving more than ever over the past decade that we have a lot of ignorant people in this country.

I haven't been on here much today. After being awake all night because I literally never went to sleep after seeing that Trump was going to win, I had to work today, too. So...

There's so much to process and parse, several links I want to go back and read, and so many things I'd like to say and address. I'll start with some general thoughts on what I think the problem was, and in so doing, I think I'll also probably answer one of three_bags_full's angry questions.

As I mumbled while talking to myself as I lay in bed last night, practically distraught and definitely in disgusted disbelief over what had happened in this election, "I don't think I've ever been so ashamed of this country, or so shocked at its collective ignorance and stupidity." I texted that to another disappointed family member at 3:30 in the morning. I still can't get over it, and so, have given things a lot of thought today.

And I don't buy any arguments about what Harris might've done wrong, or how much time she needed to do things right. I don't think the loss was prompted by inadequate messaging. I don't even really think it had to do with the fact she's a woman, and the our country is apparently not ready for a woman President.

To me, this election was a demonstration of just how ignorant and stupid people apparently are -- whether willfully so, or for some other reason. More than that, though, I see this result as a horrible referendum on the morals of the electorate, of this country. And the reason it might compel me to leave it. This wouldn't be the only reason (I've given thought to living abroad before), but this election result definitely brought such thoughts to the forefront again.

Because I am still struggling to wrap my head around what this country did last night, and I think I would do so no matter who might've run against Trump. I simply can't comprehend how this country is obviously just fine with Trump, his convicted-criminal acts, his lies, his racism, his misogyny, his bombast, his unbelievable words of "war" on and within his own country -- the country he called "a garbage can" that he has now been elected to lead; his utter contempt and vengefulness toward anyone who says or does anything he doesn't like; his disgusting behavior: insultingly mimicking a handicapped journalist, repeated put-downs of and disrespect for women, as well as military personnel, of which he has now been given command; performing sex acts in public, on a microphone; his disregard for life as shown by his flagrantly laissez-faire approach to COVID; his contempt for anyone not born in the U.S.; his disregard for the rule of law; his lack of understanding or care about government, politics or America's place in the world; and his complete lack of remorse about anything he has ever said, or done. All of this doesn't even address some of the most egregious instances of unprofessional, un-Presidential speech and behavior against, say, Liz Cheney, Mike Pence, and, most recently, even Mitch McConnell, the man who, by inaction, saved Trump's behind last time, so that he could even have run for President at all this time.

I believe that the people who voted for Trump truly don't know what they've voted for.

They mustn't. Or else, they wouldn't have done it, and the level of ignorance and stupidity, by millions enough to vote Trump back into office, is just..mind-boggling, and frankly, unforgivable.

What they've voted for is public schools' funds being drastically cut, Social Security being cut by 30 percent or more, Medicare being cut, NATO, Ukraine and Israel probably being abandoned to their fates, and, of course Project 2025, the 900-page Republican Party manifesto that, really, every single person in this country ought to have read -- preferably before voting. It is truly chilling, and now, all the pieces, and people, are in place in order to put the whole plan into place.

Here's a brief general explanation of some of it:

The plan was conceived by the Heritage Foundation in collaboration with more than 100 right-wing organizations, including the anti-abortion and anti-LGBTQ+ legal-advocacy group Alliance Defending Freedom, which overturned Roe v. Wade; the NRA; Moms for Liberty, which has spearheaded attacks on education across the country; and America First Legal, which is led by anti-immigration hawk and former Trump adviser Stephen Miller. The groups have been explicit in their call to completely remake the federal government and the country in their image. In an interview with Steve Bannon, Heritage Foundation president Kevin Roberts said, “We are in the process of the second American Revolution, which will remain bloodless if the left allows it to be.”

This? This sort of thing? Dismantling the government, our democracy? This is what voters really want? Because this is what they voted for. And it is what makes me think all the more seriously about leaving the country (although I would always stand, respectfully, for the national anthem).

America voted for the most divisive person in the country, and our worst President ever, to be our President. Again! How could anyone want and even prefer him? How could anyone have voted for Trump, or any of this? What do these people think he's going to do for them? I'd really like to know.

Next question for the people: What will Fucko do on his first day back in office? He's already on record saying he wants to be a dictator for just that one day (HAH!), so what will he do? In his deranged mind he can't back down at all from that vow, and his unhinged, anything-for-ratings ego will keep telling him each passing day that it's got to be even bigger than yesterday's psychotic plan.

    So what will Fucko do?
