They won, they get to try and implement their policies. But those policies were unpopular last time around, and I don't think that'll change too much.
PS: 1998 was the "we don't give a shit about Monica Lewinsky" election. It's possible 2024 was the "we know Trump's a scumbag but we are really pissed off" election. Exit polls showed Harris had a better favorability rating than did Trump. "It's not you, we hate your boss."

"Mr. X, what could Trump do that would cause his supporters to abandon him?"

    "Nothing."

The Democrats did talk about it. FoxNews and the MAGA media didn't.

Even local media dropped the ball on giving the right people credit. I've seen a couple of dozen instances of "Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders announces (big infrastructure project)" without the local reporter or anchor saying "Oh, yeah, that money came from Joe Biden's administration and all your Congressmen voted against it."

It's been noted in this thread in the past, but Obama broke the brains of half of America and we've yet to recover from it.

Yes, yes, yes. When you have 100 days, you don't have the luxury of choosing. If the story is true about Harris refusing Rogan because he insisted on her coming to his place, that's awful. You've got a damn plane and it should have been going everywhere.

Again, probably doesn't change a thing today. But it doesn't help with the Dems' reputation of being elitist when you don't do every last media opp, pod, etc.

She should have done Rogan over Fox. That sitdown did nothing for her.

You don't even know yourselves as well I as know you, says TV show host.

It's ABC's money to spend on that guy. Ditto CBS on Colbert.

One of the more interesting things to watch is whether corporations continue to feel the need to use advertising dollars to stave off internal employee revolts, or if we moved past that era. For if we have, I'm not sure the Kimmel/Colbert contingent have much to say.

Yup. I ALWAYS added in when the money was federal stimulus money in the scripts after the producers would essentially cut and paste a governor’s press release. That’s paramount to the story.

The Democrats were going to lose this election. Biden was going to lose by an historic margin. Harris made it appear closer. The polls seemed to think it would be close.

But for four years, Republicans in every state have been outraged at the 2020 election -- and Trump stayed in the public eye the entire time -- and they were going to make damn sure they turned out in record numbers.

Those voters had a single goal: Get the Democrats out of the White House, no matter how deranged Trump sounded, acted or moved.

We're in a cycle of outraged politics. Democrats were outraged in 2020 and turned out for a decent guy against an evil one. Perhaps they'll figure out the directions to the polling places again in 2028, since 14 million forgot on Tuesday. As @Michael_ Gee said, four years is a long time and perhaps the anger swings the other direction.

But there's nothing the opposition party can do with messaging if the No. 1 reason people are going to vote is because they're mad as hell. The only way to defeat angry voters is show up with more.

Democrats in places that are going to be most impacted by Trump's policies didn't.

That was not what he said or implied. Not at all.

Language also matters as well — Trump is as guilty as the worst in all of us.

People who are pro-life but open to the Democrats against Trump get turned off fast when abortion is referred to as “health care”.

People who have worked hard, had a plan and tried to live a good life and give to others but have voted Republican get turned off fast when Harris (or Obama before her) say, “we’re not going backwards!” They hear themselves being described as “backward”.
