Rational mind: Inflation bad but improving. We should have steady leadership in the WH

Broken brain: I hate inflation so much I'll go with a corrupt businessman who only really made steady dough by monetizing his public office and who doesn't know how tariffs work or that GDP can never be less than zero.

Yesterday Fed chairman Powell said he would not resign f asked by President Trump. First display of guts from a Washington Republican in some time.

It is funny, for all the talk about the inflation being the reason people voted for Trump. I really can't recall a Trump ad about inflation. It was all about the border, drugs, trans kids taking scholarships from your daughter. Even his economic policy is more inflationary. I will give the Trump campaign this, they do a good job of getting the typical zoned out non-voter to vote - and those votes count just as much as the person who does a deep dive on the issues.

Don't arrest, don't prosecute, let 43-time offenders go free . . . crime "rates" mean nothing, and there is no "correct" answer to the question.

They voted for him because he'll do good things for other people.

(That sounds ridiculous no matter what side types it).

I didn't see any Trump ads on TV until last weekend during football, because neither side was gonna waste a nickel on the Boston market. But the ones I did see all mentioned inflation.

He will get more votes this year than in 2020.

They just haven't been counted yet.

He's about 800,000 behind his 2020 total right now, with about 7.5 million California votes still to be counted (he will win more than 2.5 million of those). He'll get another 450K in Arizona that haven't been counted. And so on. He got 74.2 million in 2020. He'll get about 77-78 million this time.

You couldn’t swing a dead cat around the college football schedule without seeing them, especially for swing state teams (plus anywhere with a close-ish Senate race). And No. 1 on the charts was a clip of Harris spliced together to make it sound like she wanted to spend money on sex reassignment surgery for prisoners. (I never bothered checking if there was anything to it.) Then at the end it showed drag queens prancing around while the announcer intoned “Kamala is for they/them. President Trump is for you.”

That spot must have tested off the charts because a few weeks in they changed out the ending visuals to prominently feature a queer-coded guy dressed up like Jesus. Any hope of sneaking past the Baptists down south and the Catholics up north was gonzo by that point.

I never saw a response to that from her. In my less charitable moments I thought she should come out and say “Hell yes we’re paying to cut the balls off criminals,” and listen to the roar.

That's the ad we got in Virginia.

Also, at the very end, simple messaging started showing up on yard signs -- Trump: Secure Border. Kamala: Open Border. Trump: Safety. Kamala: Crime. Trump: Low Prices. Kamala: High Prices. Very dumbed down stuff but apparently quite effective.

Ah, yes, the "numbers released by the government are only correct when I like the guy in office" strategy.
