What strikes me as odd is how they seem to have sub silentio deemphasized the standard from the past few years that any contact with the QB's head, no matter how slight, was automatically a penalty. After the facemask against the Rams, Darnold got smacked right in the facemask with a hand on the play when he fumbled last week against the Colts with no call, and then with Burrow last night - none of this is getting called any more.

I put the hold in the same category as interference. We see that missed all the time. It's not right, but I'm not surprised that they didn't call it.

There is no excuse for not flagging the Ravens for clubbing Burrow in the head, specifically a blow to his facemask. None.

The TE sold the hold like he was in Serie A. Not that it wasn’t a call which could have been made, but put on your big boy pants and try to fight through it.

Lattimore will not play for the Commanders Sunday against the Steelers. It sounds like a combination of him not having much time with the team yet and the hamstring injury.

I'm OK with holding and interference continuing to be judgment calls, as ugly as that can be at times. Facemasks and blows to the head have to be reviewable or the league is totally full of crap about protecting players. Eh, OK we know they are already, but this is one fix that I think will be made over the offseason.

I hadn't thought of it that way. Of course, you are right.

Somebody tell me why Lamar Jackson might be a more legitimate MVP candidate than Jared Goff (74.9 completion %, 115.0 QB rating, 7-1 team record).

Because rightly or wrongly, it's perceived that the Lions, with their power running game, could survive if Goff went down, and everyone knows that without Jackson, the Ravens are suddenly the Pats on offense.

The knew they needed more than a field goal to win the game. It’s a 50 plus yard field goal which is not automatic and they don’t trust their kicker

Now add his rushing to the discussion.

The Lions have the best oline in football.
