Don’t you understand, things like ethical concerns are relics of the monoparty and legacy media?

I wonder if the world's many anti-American terrorists are noting that our vast security apparatus is going to be occupied saving the country from meatpackers and dairy farm workers?

"Now many have suggested that Vice President Harris lost due to sexism or racism. I disagree. Many Americans wanted and needed to hear stories about descendants of Touissant L'Ouverture gorging themselves on canis familiaris. It points to something deep in the national character. I would argue akin to the vaunted welfare queeeeens of the 1970s, which was NOT a racist trope."

This morning, I'm hunting a high point on the property with a cell signal, so I'm able to post here. The wind is still. The does are moving and a small basket-rack 6-point cruised by about an hour ago. Leaves are still damp from last Friday's gully washer of a rain, so the squirrels don't sound like elephants tromping through dry oak leaves.

My cousin and uncle (who at 92 didn't make the trip) are big MAGA guys. The second cousins are all younger - mid-30s - and Texas Red, but more Chamber of Commerce than MAGA. One, I think might one day be governor of Texas after he tires of being a deputy prosecuting attorney in one of the DFW suburbs and enters politics. Or he'll get his inheritance from his grandpa (my uncle) and retire at 35 to become a fly fishing guide. Another is a defense contractor in the IT realm, you know the drones that can be flown controlled by pilot in the USA as it drops bombs or takes photos on the other side of the planet? He helped develop the IT solutions to make that happen. He's a tech guy, but thinks Elon is a moron and that AI will eventually lead to millions of job losses. He voted Harris, but more as an anti-Trump move more than anything.

In all, we had a great time together, telling stories of deer camp 40 years ago based in a cabin built in the 1840s, the terribleness of using an outhouse, uncles whose snoring could be heard 25-yards outside the cabin and tales of big bucks taken and bigger ones missed. We'd all heard and told the stories dozens of times. But with my Dad in hospice and my last remaining uncle too frail to make the trip, my cousin and I were the old men of the group at 61 and 56. It was weird. But good. Very good.

During the one brief conversation about the election, my cousin said he hates Trump as a person but likes his policies. I said "You know, about 80-percent of the products my company sells have 'Made in China' on them. If he puts a 100-percent tariff on imports, I'll be unemployed because our company won't survive. And you better sell all those shares of Walmart you own right now."
Him: "You shouldn't listen to what the media says about what he's going to do. They don't know."
Me: "It wasn't the media. He campaigned on tariffs for several months."
Him: "He says lots of things he doesn't mean."

And that's when I made a joke about Arnold Palmer's cock to end the conversation, because how do you reason with that? "I voted for these policies, but I don't know if the man espousing them is serious about enacting them" is a hell of a way to choose a POTUS.

We spent the next 20 minutes talking SMU football, then put the blaze orange back on and went back into the woods.

These cabinet picks and “czars’’ are going to fuck things up so badly, but we can rest assured they also will piss trump off and at some point will be fired. And the mess they create will assure that the democrat will win in 2028.
If by chance they don’t make a mess, i guess thats good too.
Trying to look at the bright side.
And if any of these gop people think working in his cabinet is going to set them up to run in 2028, they are really idiots because the only ones trump will pass the MAGA torch on to are Junior or Ivanka.

I'll give you 2:1 odds right now a democrat won't.

Kind of on the Nate Silver post,

A friend posted something that if Harris were a white dude, he's certain the Dems would have won. I'm sure he's saying America is racist and sexist. I'm thinking....then we should have run a white dude. Which I think is the crux of where the debate over the loss really is. I kind of think the Dems think their wins are a validation of EVERYTHING, they stand for, and a loss is a TOTAL REPUDATION of everything they stand for. Of course, neither is accurate.

Talked to my mom on the phone last night. Was on deadline all last week and quite frankly wasn't in a chatting mood after the results so it was the first time i'd talked to her since the election. She was lamenting how bad Harris did with certain groups and I said, "Jesus Christ himself could have run and he wasn't winning. This is a country angry about prices and the two wars overseas and they wanted to get even with someone."

If a Democrat wins, I'm inclined to think it's because things REALLY went to shit.

And though I can't do anything about it, I don't want to see it, either. So I'm not going to be rooting for 10,000 Dow drops just for the "I told you so!"
