Home team in a rout. Dry field. Great day. Always a great day on the field.

My God. If it were not for the fact that gate receipts from the finals likely fund the whole organization, they’d have to be tempted to call the thing off this year and then mandate playoffs determined strictly by district standings. And if you spend every other Friday on the bus for five hours to the other side of the state and back, then tough shit to you.

I read that story a couple of times and don't understand the system or the objections.

I don’t understand the details either, but humbly suggest the writer didn’t need “officially” in the story. Unless games in W.Va. are sometimes unofficially postponed.

I'm convinced 11-man football needs a 45-point rule just like six-man football. Margin hits 45 or more, game over.

Some serious mismatches in first round of playoffs and it's only Thursday.

Is this a good time to chime in on how irrationally annoyed I get when people use "canceled" instead of "postponed" to describe the status of a game?

We go to running clock at 40-point margins, even in the playoffs.

    Different states have mercy rules.
Ohio reverts to a running clock when the score differential hits 30 or more points in the second half. Regular clock rules resume if the score differential goes back under 30 points.
I believe Iowa calls it quits if the score differential hits 50 points at halftime or in the second half.
