However I thought it would be, it's already worse and it will be worse.

This is why I can't spend a lot of time following the day-to-day machinations of what Trump and his lickspittles will unleash anymore. It's an issue of survival for me. If I consume this at my previous rate, I will be dead, either by driving my car off an overpass or by stress.

For almost eight years people have said, "They're telling us who they are." and no one fucking believed it. Still don't. And here we are.

Trump hasn't wavered from this tack in 40+ years. Anyone who believes he'd change now or was "just saying things" in campaign speeches is stupid.

Worse. I don't think the average American cares.

The one thing I've learned is that the best way to digest this thread is to stop in every 20 pages or so. And read one page.

Voters were so preoccupied being mad at Biden for inflation or Gaza they didn't stop to think how Chaos J. Clownface would improve either.

    Ya'll are overreacting.

When Donald Trump - again - asks his Attorney General to do something illegal, Matt Gaetz can be counted on to stand his ground.

There are a lot more levels to overreaction than that, my man.

I remember reading somewhere 20 years or so ago that a sizable percentage of the American population (like 40 percent or so) didn’t know the name of the vice president of the United States.

If they can’t be bothered to care about J.D. Vance in two months, why would we expect them to know who all of the other cabinet members are.

I have probably 20 books I've been meaning to read and a ton of movies/shows/documentaries I've been meaning to watch. I'm going to start plowing through these instead of doom consuming this thread, Twitter and TV news.

Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy are going to head up a new cabinet level position, the Department of Government Efficiency, in charge of cutting the federal employee pool to get rid of the Deep State.

Never mind that only Congress can create a new cabinet seat. Trump's gonna give them offices in the Executive Office Building, let them sit in cabinet meetings, and turn them loose, just like his border czar. Let's take the cadre of long term staff, people who have been in their jobs a long time and know how to do them, and fire them. Replace them with loyalists. Cut government spending for things that Congress appropriated money for. What could possibly go wrong?

I pretty much can't watch the news or listen to NPR. This train wreck is coming and it will be bad enough living though it. I don't want to watch it roll in the last fifty miles and wait for the crash.

Can Elon Musk cut $2 trillion from US government spending?
