I’ve often wondered what the country’s reaction would have been on Jan. 6 if Pence had actually been kidnapped and killed.

Would that have been the thing that woke the country up? Or would the country just tsk tsk and worry about egg prices and the few dozen transgender athletes in female sports.

We ask for something to wake the country up.

Folks, we are the ones who need to wake up.

These people have been telling us who they are, what they support and what they want to do FOR YEARS.

Believe them. And don't believe for a second any of them will think any of it is actually bad or will suffer blame. The cabinet picks, policies and everything else are exactly what they want. Own the libs!

Believe them, goddammit. This is who the country actually is.

I also don’t get the people who threaten to move or dream about moving to whatever other country. The USA is the Death Star altering the orbit of everything else in the sky. Whatever your imagined happy place is, America can ruin it with a Thanos snap if it so chooses.

At the store, we're in the midst of our holiday fund-raiser for the local food bank. Ask for a $10 donation or you have options for less or more at the PIN pad. Some do, most don't or make it a point to say they give through their church, individually, etc. Whatever. Then there was the guy who told me he'd give when inflation returned to 2020 levels. Just be quiet and don't tell him what an ass he's being.

Senator-elect Slotkin just said on Psaki's show that Dems can't be in a communications bubble.

Well, that worked f*cking great for the Republicans. So tired of hearing Dems should do things that worked for Trump etc....or don't do things that worked for Trump.

Dems need to offer a positive vision of America!
(Trump: America is a garbage can)

Dems need to level with the American people. They want a truth-teller.
(Trump: They're eating the pets of the people that live there)

Dems need to demonstrate how they will help people's economic concerns.

(Trump: I'm gonna raise taxes and pardon all the January 6th political prisoners)

So, rather than say Dems are too much in a bubble (and of course they know way more about Republican real misdeeds than Republicans do about imaginary Dem ones)....just say the voters made a huge mistake bringing back that monster.

I think — at least I hope — that would have compelled a speedier investigation and prosecution and conviction. I have wondered about this as well.

It’s easy to assume life’s better elsewhere. Until you have to learn a new language. Or drive on the other side of the street. Or acclimate to new customs.

Jess Piper ran a game but futile race in rural northwest Missouri a few years ago. I’ve been following her since and she seems to have a very good grasp on the realities of trying to achieve progress in rural America. Would love to hear the thoughts of those of you who are similarly rurally situated.

The thing I noticed in my little corner of ketchup-red South Carolina is how many local races are uncontested — and it’s never ever a Democrat running unopposed.

Harris is getting Trump-like in the number of emails I get asking for donations.

    I finally had to unsubscribe.

Especially when it's quite competitive to immigrate to most desirable countries, and if you don't already possess a special skill or have a job and/or family waiting over there for you, you're at the back of a long line.

I hope Trump force-feeds him Big Macs and Diet Coke and fluoridated water like a foie gras duck.
