I agree with many of her thoughts; disagree on her timeline. “Build now to change things in 2026,” is wildly over optimistic. It will take a generation of folks willing to run and get trounced 70-30 over and over before the needle begins to shift. (Some places here it would look more like 80-20.)

If I knocked on every door in my town and announced I was a Democrat, more than half would assume on the spot I’m a pedophile and devil worshiper. How do you start gaining traction against that? Now you are no longer asking people to risk defeat, but to risk getting their skulls cracked open.

But she is absolutely right that the consultant class is the sorriest bunch of would-be helpers known to what’s about to be left of the republic.

Part of her point is that one has to get involved in their community first before knocking on doors. She wrote about talking with your neighbors and making friends.

Before knocking on doors and announcing you’re a devil-worshiping pedophile, do community activities. Talk football in a bar. Volunteer on beautification projects. Make people feel comfortable around you.

Then once they know you, they can find out that there’s at least one Democrat who isn’t a devil-worshiping pedophile. They won’t be inclined to shoot your head off when you appear on their porch. They learn that you’re not evil incarnate like the right-wing shriek machine media says that you are. They may still not agree with you, but at least you’ve built up some trust for them to not see you as a literal enemy.

That seems to be her main point. Along with ignoring the consultants.

Well, he fits right in with the rest of the nominations -- the antithesis of the type that should've been picked for the position. This is just a train wreck in every way for our country and the world, and I can barely watch anymore/already.

It's exactly what Trump wants. In fighting at all levels so he can sweep in and pick the least of the fight (still bad but negotiated), all people acquiesce, he's hero. He starts the fire, knows how he started, appears to put it out. Every fucking time.
