Jaguar has a new ad campaign that seems squarely aimed at selling cars to car people.

I keep waiting in vain for America to get sick of Snoop Dogg as the corporate whore he's become. Or to get tired of his dopey schtick.

I will give him credit of a paradoxical sort. He's done a very successful job of shielding corporate America from his various transgressions over the years. A lot of corporations have looked the other way to curry favor with his modern fo shizzle minstrel act.

I very much want him to disappear from the face of the earth.

    Dear Jaguar,

More work and budget on R&D and mechanical dependability, less overspend on high-fashion ads which do not feature your products in any way, shape or form.

It was like Homer's Mr. Plow ad.

Anything involving a football referee. Such a worn out trope.

Put Tony Hawk in the category of "Why is this guy doing commercials?"

The guy must have made a mint on his game.

And Jennifer Garner. Is she paying off Ben Affleck's bar tab or something?

Hey, people like money. To paraphrase Jalen Rose's old line, if Oprah Winfrey sees $20 in the street she's still bending over to pick it up.

Jennifer Garner reportedly makes around $4 million per year for the Capital One commercials, which she probably spends a grand total of about a week each year shooting. I don't think she's hurting, but she's also probably not well enough off to turn down that kind of money for that little bit of work and visibility.

She seems to be (to me, at least) as likeable a person as there is anywhere in the TV commercial universe.

We were visiting my cousin in Pacific Palisades last summer and went to a small Italian joint she likes to frequent near her place. I was looking at my phone while we waited to be seated when my wife elbowed me and whispered, "Holy shit, that's Jennifer Garner over there!" I honestly had no idea who she was (now she's on my TV every five minutes) and we ended up at the table next to the one she was at with some friends. She smiled and waved at my cousin (apparently they see each other at church on occasion and my cousin has run interference with her when photographers are camped outside church waiting for her and her kids) and when she was done she stopped by to say hi and headed on her way. My cousin says she's seen Ben Affleck with his dog at Starbucks.

Why is Grainger so much on tv and radio and why can't I figure out what they do?
