We suck swampwater. It's that bad. And I fully expect that Dilfer will be retained.

Apparently, firing football coaches is the American way.

If there's a group photo of the American's 11 head coaches in 2022, it's a trivia question unto itself. If you were to take group photo of the current American Athletic Conference head coaches, only one of those 11 from two years ago would be in both images: Ryan Silverfield of Memphis.
    The others:
Luke Fickell (Cincinnati) is now the head coach at Wisconsin. Cincinnati fled for the Big 12.
Mike Houston (ECU) was whacked earlier this season.
Dana Holgorson (Houston) was whacked after last season and is now interim OC at Nebraska, I think.
Ken Niumatalolo (Navy) was whacked after the 2022 season and is now the head coach at San Jose State.
Rhett Lashlee (SMU) is still at SMU, but the Mustangs are in the ACC.
Jeff Scott USF) was whacked late in the 2022 season.
Stan Drayton (Temple) was whacked a week or two ago.
Willie Fritz (Tulane) succeeded Holgorson at Houston.
Phillip Montgomery (Tulsa) was whacked after the 2022 season and replaced by Kevin Wilson, who was whacked today.
Gus Malzahn (UCF) is still at UCF, but the Knights fled for the Big 12.

Perhaps even more bizarre, only six of the 14 coaches in the 2023 AAC photo would be in an AAC photo if you tried to take one today.

I agree with this Twitter commentator on the letter.

"I can't get past the line of him saying Temple football has been a source of pride for generations."

He had a that good year at Texas and thought that program was going to just become a machine because it's Texas. I don't he ever gave a damn about coaching at FAU, but they were willing to pay a lot in hopes of finding another Lane Kiffin. But whereas Kiffin wanted to get back to head coaching at a major program, I never got the sense that Herman was s eager. They paid him a lot of money and he got to live on the beach, so he did it.
