Depending on the venue, court cases are not always available online or for free. (Not sure if that's the case for this one.) It was typically more rare than not for the files to be available easily, and that's partially why so many Florida and California cases get wider distribution for "look at this weird shit!" reasons, because they're more open than other states.

That'll probably be the last story, too. Non-lunatic right wing media wants to ignore the story as much as possible. Which only empowers the lunatic right wing media.

This might be karma, but the MW tournament bracket is out and it is about as perfect as can be for the anti San Jose movement.

Only six qualify and top two seeds get a bye. San Jose State got the No. 2 seed and guess who they will play? The winner of Utah State and Boise State.

So what will they do? Toss away their chance at an NCAA bid for their morals? And give San Jose State a freebie to the championship game?

The MW will also be a one bid league. CSU had a shot at an at large but biffed a road trip last week.

Judge rejects attempt to block San Jose State from Mountain West tournament over trans player

Judge rules San Jose State and Blaire Fleming can play and also that forfeits stand.

So now it will be interesting to see what Boise State and Utah State do with their seasons on the line. Utah State posted on Twitter after the decision was made that it is tourney week and the date and time of the Boise State match. So I guess they are at least planning on playing that.

This is a great point …

For two years, the San Jose State player was on the volleyball team and the world continued to spin. No one was injured, no one was assaulted in a locker room, no legion of transgender women showed up in formation behind her to take over women’s sports. The San Jose State player practiced and played and no one, not her teammates and not her opponents, took issue with it. Whether that’s because no one realized she’s transgender or it was deemed inconsequential are two sides of the same coin.

So what changed? Other than teammate Brooke Slusser and the other grifters deciding that demonizing a young woman would get them a spot on Fox News?

    Nothing. Not a damn thing.

My wife watched the Utah State-Boise State match. She's invested in MW volleyball of all things (CSU has always been pretty darn good in the sport so that's part of it), but she wanted to see if they would address the situation on the broadcast. They didn't from what we can tell.

Boise State had to forfeit, based on how they handled the regular season. You can't put your "morals" on the side with an NCAA berth on the line. Utah State maybe would have been a little more of an interesting choice given they only were scheduled to play San Jose State once. I did wonder if they were going to forfeit, either team, why even go and spend the money and play anyway? I guess one more point to be made.

Although that said, I do think this was a politician decision all along and not an AD or program decision, which is probably why they still played. There was actually a Boise State official quoted yesterday after the match that no decision had been made, but he thinks they'll play. Obviously not.

Inside San Jose State's polarizing volleyball season

This is the best thing I've seen written on all this. As thorough as can be. Very long, but worth it.

Some interesting points -- pretty well implied that people have always known she is transgender; talked to someone who played her in high school and club and didn't seem too bothered; talked to high-level power volleyball players who said, yeah, go to Texas if you want to see a hard hit ball; everyone gets hit in the face every day; ESPN actually analyzed her hits and they averaged 50.6 mph; and maybe the most interesting is the San Jose State coach was not told there was a transgender player until after he signed (but that said, he seems to be one of her biggest supporters).

Yes, and from the ESPN article, she still high-fives her transgender teammate and acts like she’s all happy on the court. She’s either two-faced, or she’ll come out in a few years as saying that she was pressured to do this by politicians.

The lawsuit itself sounds like a joke. The plaintiffs say the transgender player spikes the ball at 80 mph, but cite no specific instances and the article says that speed would be among the fastest in history among elite men players.

I really wish Dems would have put up some defense on this during the election. Use this issue to highlight the Republican hypocrisy on abortion and guns.

That Dan Wolken column is really good too and for the first time I saw some real criticism of one of these schools' administrations. He also basically said it was politicians but that the school leaders didn't have the guts to stand up to them.

And he's definitely right that when you have a group of 15 plus players you are going to have varying opinions, but those weren't reactions of winning that they weren't playing again.
