if you’re a coordinator guaranteed 15 mil counting the buyout for three years of work, sounds good to me

Purdue's formula pick would be the 3rd/4th hottest young coaching prospect from the MAC -- the top couple guys will probably get better offers.

Coordinators from other B1G schools would make sense, but again the good ones will get better offers.

Mel Tucker's got nothin else to do.

If you can go from perpetually and miserably hot Houston to Philly, do it.

To me, this is the fascinating part of the profession.

Purdue is a paycheck job for a first time major college HC.

Is the job worth the likelihood of getting fired in 3 years and never being a P4 HC again?

    Absof’inglutely.

We all have our price for generational wealth.

I often wonder if I would have gone into basketball or football coaching — I thought about it in college and I went in broadcasting instead. I’d absolutely go 9-27 at a place like Purdue, take my cash and go to Naples.

With that money, I’ll get the same size house Barry Alvarez has there with a quarter of the headaches.

If the Boilers were truly interested in money whipping a proven coach, I’d try Dave Clawson. He may feel like he’s hit a ceiling at Wake Forest. Purdue will have a little higher expectations, but along the lines of “Let’s win at least six games each year and get a warm-weather bowl every 4-5 years.”

Because coordinators are allergic to staying more than 2 years in Happy Valley

Maybe his skin thickened from his ill-fated Mizzou tenure. But I’d want to see more from him before handing over daddy’s Caddy keys.

Mizzou was a TOUGH spot, when I look back. He had never been a HC and had to follow Pinkel and the protest turmoil.

Since joining the SEC, Mizzou had kept an overinflated view of its ceiling. Purdue has very little expectation.

Eventually it’s a James Franklin thing and not a “every OC they hire” thing.
