The dirty little secret is that a lot of the Limousine Liberals like Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer have the financial means to GTFO if shit goes down so I'm wondering if they even care.

Good thing all the gun nuts are armed to the teeth if the government comes to take their freedoms!

This is low key what I think the Hunter Biden pardon may be about. Felons can’t leave the country, at least if they aren’t the crush of a majority of the Supreme Court.

I guess it reveals some big blind spot I have, but I don't get the outrage over the Hunter Biden pardon. It's a power that's fully within the president's authority and has been regularly exercised in the past by presidents mostly to benefit political allies, but also sometimes to right a wrong. Several presidents have pardoned family members.

Hunter Biden's crimes are relatively minor and fairly typical of someone dealing with addiction. Trump issued pardons for some egregious sh*t committed by his political and business allies that are much worse.

But it's OK if their guy does it.

    Because a Democrat did it.

If Trump did something of the same the media would say, "It's just another example of the fiery president defying conventional historical norms," or some such bullshit, same as always.

I'm not going to overthink the Hunter pardon. Its probably the last thing Joe can do for his kid. And what a crazy trajectory to the story. His wife and daughter are killed in the crash that injured Hunter and Beau before Biden was sworn in for the first time as Senator. Decades pass. Hunter has his problems. Biden wins the Presidency, uses one of his last powers to "save" a son that has been such a blemish on the family. Its all very Catholic.
I said when he was elected in '2o that stopping a second Trump term was likely to be the biggest accomplishment of his Presidency. Does he still get credit for it now that Trump won the office back? Would we all have been better off if Trump won in '20 and maybe was a little less pissed off?

Does what? Only two presidents have not used the pardon power and one of those was William Henry Harrison.

As the father of a child who has battled with addiction, I completely understand Biden doing what he could to protect his son. Add to that the Republicans using him as a proxy pinata to attack Joe Biden.

My only real problem with Hunter being pardoned is that if gives them political propaganda cover when Trump does what he was going to do anyway, for fun, profit, or political advantage with the cult.

It takes him out of the immediate jurisdiction of the Justice Department. They can still go after Hunter, but they don't have the easy club of existing charges and sentencing, probation and parole, that sort of thing as tools to do so more easily.

Oh yes, I’m sure he would have done a dandy job with the post-Covid economic shocks. Whole thing would be purring like a kitten.
