2024-25 NHL regular season thread

I looked into going to Caps-Isles today at 3, but the ticket prices were a touch absurd. $158 for upper deck seats. I'll pick a rando weekday game to hit instead, thanks.

 

Old-time hockey in Columbus. Three second-period fights. Jackets 3, Flames 1 at second intermission.
EDIT: Columbus defeated Calgary 5-2. Meet again Tuesday at the Saddledome.

 

Detroit's top two goaltenders, Cam Talbot and Alex Lyon, are injured.
Looks like the Wings will go with Ville Husso and 2021 first-round draft choice Sebastian Cossa for their upcoming roadies vs. Boston and Ottawa.

 

I thought Ville Husso had some potential and was on the upswing. Guess that hasn't panned out.

 

Husso was injured a lot dating back to last season. Had a good camp but was pulled in the season opener, then sent to Grand Rapids ... recalled a couple of times.
Cossa has played well at GR, but the Wings did not want to bring him up this soon.
Talbot has been good, especially considering Detroit is still mediocre in its own zone.

 

So I get to watch the Carolina Hurricanes – I'm out of market, so the cable system that has a legal monopoly in my home area doesn't loom – AND I get John Forslund?

Emotional night tonight in Calgary.

 

His little girl looks just like him.

 

There wasn’t a dry eye in the Saddledome last night, very emotional thinking about the sadness of the whole situation right from the accident to how well his family has handled the tragedy to tonight.
He was a ‘bring you out of your seat’ player. We loved him here, were mad and sad when he left and after the accident it’s been such a surreal feeling.
johnny, Theo and Joey are truly great undersized players who became legends in Flames hockey.

 

Rosters for the Four Nations Faceoff were released today.

 

Joey? Mullen?

 

Think so. STL should never traded him.
Joe Mullen was a lock for the 1980 Olympic team. He turned pro because his family needed the money.
