It is undeniably funny that the NYPD is begging for help with this. Hey assholes, you're the biggest and most lethal police force in the world and there are cameras on every street corner. Find him yourself.

Part of the power of a round is used to eject the spent shell casing. A .380 is already a pretty low powered round. Combine that with someone allowing their wrist to recoil rather than act as a brace, there isn't enough power for the slide to function properly, causing the gun to jam. If it really was a .380 with a suppressor, I could really see it happening.
That's why I bought my wife a .38 instead of a .380. They are better for ladies who don't shoot regularly. They are reliable.

Oh, and I mentioned in the other thread about my wife's new annual insurance deal at work, and I mentioned her's wasn't great. She just said it was United Healthcare. I can confirm they deny probably more than they cover.

So now my Spidey sense tingles a little. If they are the most dominant insurer (and surely Blue Cross can’t be far behind) then how is the industry average that low?

A few years ago, my wife broke a tooth. Her dentist said she had to wear braces to put her teeth in position to fix it. The claim was denied by United Healthcare, claiming it was cosmetic. Her dentist, the main dentist in the office, and United Healthcare's dentist, all wrote letters to say it was necessary and not cosmetic.
Nope. Some guy in a cubicle decided he knows more about teeth than dentists.
We paid for it out of pocket.

    F 'em.

That is pretty much every insurance company. Most of the employees are dedicated to finding ways to avoid paying.

I now suspect it was a disgruntled policy holder, or at least the loved one of same.

Bullets fired at UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson had words written on them, officials say

    Recently divorced.

Got millions when he cashed out stock before United lost over a billion dollars.

Police are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest, which is almost enough to cover a UnitedHealthcare deductible.
