Big 12 has a better crowd than I expected, which was friends and family level. I’m sure it helps that it is a play-in game and both fan bases are starved for titles.

The ’Clones with an early TD drive (which included SIX FIRST DOWNS as announcer Joe Shoutamore bellowed).

If the CFP committee is anything like its NCAA men’s tournament brethren, it will find a way to pair up Iowa State with Boise State as a first round matchup if the Cyclones win.

As @MileHigh noted, Boise will be the No. 3 or 4 seed and get a bye. The Big 12 champ is pretty well locked into the 12, so they would play at No. 5 in the first round — probably Notre Dame, the Big Ten loser, or Texas, depending on today's results.

Call me cynical, but I’ll believe that only after the final rankings come out.

Anyway, the way Arizona State is playing (great 4th and 1 deep throw), might not have to worry about Iowa State in the playoff.

Top four conference champions get a bye. Arizona State or Iowa State are not jumping Boise. They will have a bye.

Joe Tessitore saying the change that "everybody" wants to make is to wipe out the byes for conference champions.

No, all they need to do is go NFL-style and have the worst advancing seed playing the best advancing seeds. Problem solved.

Tessitore is fine, if over-amped, at calling a game, but his chronic need to inject his own opinion as some sort of consensus is his downfall.

I did not realize that was one of the rules — guess I’ve missed the ESPN ratings reveal shows.

That sounds like a criteria that could be scrapped in the future.

Yes, now that Boise has "gamed" the system. They won't let that happen again.

If Boise got jumped, then the Big XII winner would have a bye and that matchup still wouldn’t happen in the first round.

Also, if Clemson wins they will be the 12 seed and this winner moves up a line. Arguably the winner here should move ahead of Alabama anyway, and maybe even Georgia if they catch a third loss.

Top four conference champions get the byes. If SMU wins, it will get a bye as well.
