My son and his wife live way out in Brooklyn in Ocean Hill, almost in East New York. The neighborhood is a slowly increasing number of white gentrifiers, like them, buying the renovated town houses which developers buy when the descendants of the middle class black and Caribbean families who lived there sell out for big bucks. Two blocks away is a big housing project -- for seniors. Of course all of them are ethnically similar to the homeowners. It is, my son says, "Adams country." This is his political base, black middle and working class Brooklyn. That's close to a million people.

I’d advise them to look under Free Parking but you probably have to drive to Utica before you find that.

The Monopoly money hints strongly at motive. But if I were the hitman, I might've trolled NYPD more by including a game of Clue.

(Full disclosure, I have never played the board game of Clue, but it sounds fantastic.)

As always, it will depend on turnout in NYC. Which is always fucking awful. I don't think the last two mayoral elections have cracked 20 percent turnout.

Assuming it's the killer's backpack (not confirmed as far as I know), this is starting to get to Joker-level villain stuff.

In 2013, my son was press secretary for Eric Garcetti when he ran and won for mayor of LA. At a Democratic fundraising event before the election, the incumbent mayor, whose name I forget, said he was a typical Angeleno because he had to be reminded there was an election. My son swears none of his many friends in LA (he's a natural born Boston pol, has many friends wherever he goes) would've voted if it wasn't for him. I think turnout was like 18 percent.

Or Joker-level disguising his motive stuff (1 chance in 500).

I’m surprised it’s not full of Get Out Of Jail Free cards.
