USC portal jumpers include: 2 of its 3 QBs, 2 of its top 4 WRs, second-string tight end, 2 OL (plus 2 graduated) so 4 will be new next season, 2 DL. As of now.

One thing I'm not hearing much about is how the playoff changes the carousel. Usually Conference Championship weekend is fish or cut bait time. Coaches bail before the bowl games. You won't see that with the playoff. Don't even know if some openings aren't really "open" yet (cough, cough Ryan Day). But Purdue, WV NC, and UCF are the only P4 jobs to open? Seems low. But the playoff changes the timing of these things a ton. It kind of kills a coaches leverage as well. If you don't have a reworked deal by now, it might be moot because there may not be any decent openings.

Coaching salaries are going to work through a market correction over the next decade now that paying players is Priority A through X.

It won't be too long before there are some players who are paid more than their coaches, as is not uncommon in the NFL.

Jacob Zeno, UAB's starting QB in 2023, has transferred to aTm. He threw for 3100 yards and 20 TD's last season. He injured his non-throwing shoulder in game four and was replaced by Jalen Kitna. Connor Weigman has left A&M, leaving them with a freshman QB. Zeno is a 7th year senior.

UAB has lost 20 scholarship players and 5 non-scholly players as well. So far. The Dilfer Disaster will continue for another season.

I'm betting that there will be a lot more P4 openings next season. There are a number of coaches who are at risk.

Inside Carolina is reporting Belichick is the guy. Have no idea how credible this site is.

That might mean they have one on the way in.

There will be fewer coaches let go because the buyout number that schools paid without thinking about it in the past will now be a problem when you're paying players.

Or they'll pull an Okie State and threaten to fire you with cause unless you agree to restructured contracts, with pay cuts and reduced buyouts.
