Feel like in 20 (or two) years Belichick winning 10 games with Mac Jones as a starter is going to be seen as his greatest accomplishment.

If Shula is now out of reach he does still have a shot at the college mark. All he has to do is win exactly 10 games every season for 49 straight years and he’ll surpass John Gagliardi’s mark of 489.

I wonder if it's an ego thing that he also doesn't want to get lapped by Reid trying to limp to the 27 wins he needs to pass Shula while Andy is going to get there in about 2029 anyway.

People who think Brady was the reason they won are … 100% right.
Belichick’s the most overrated coach in NFL history.

Was talking to some friends about this last night, and I came up with the same thing. He was going to hire someone to be the program's GM to deal with all of the recruiting and NIL stuff. I think it's going to become the norm in this new age of college football. There's is too much going on for the head coach to bear all of that responsibility.

A 17-year old recruit is going to relate well to a 65-year old with a bad toupee telling him about Al Davis and Bill Walsh.

Just about all the college football knowers I follow on social media are convinced Belichick Back to School will be a disaster for all concerned. The consensus is right more often than wrong, but what if it is? How would we define success for Belichick at UNC? Is it the school's previous standard for a good year, like 9-3 or 10-2 and a loss in the ACC title game? Does he have to make the playoffs two years running? Does he have to fill the stadium every Saturday? What does UNC want from this, besides attention?

Just can't wait for Belichick at the Pop Tarts Bowl press conference with the stupid mascot. And yeah, I think that would count as a success. They are never going to be in the playoff.

Because nobody wanted to hire him. My suspicion is that this began — at least in part— as a ploy to get the attention of NFL owners.

Zero out of 32 NFL owners want to hire a guy who'll tell them to fuck right off when he feels like it.

SMU made the playoff out of the ACC this year. Why can't UNC?

Agree. The ACC doesn't have the established power hierarchy of the Big Googleplex or the SE, because it's like the odd socks drawer of college football. Tom Coughlin, more of a martinet than Belichick, had success at BC simply because he knew and could teach more about football than his opposite numbers at alleged powerhouse schools.
