The SEC isn't going to nine conference games. Greg Sankey actually is working on making it a six-game conference schedule -- with a guaranteed bye in the playoffs for the champion.

    Perhaps Georgia.

They both played Tennessee, Texas, Ole Miss, Kentucky and Miss. State. UF played A&M, but UGA played Alabama. UF played Miami, but UGA played Ga. Tech, which beat Miami. UF played LSU. UGA played Auburn.

    Very even so far.

And finally, UGA played Clemson, and UF played FSU. Big edge to UGA here.

The biggest difference in UF's favor is the teams themselves. UF played a top-5 team in UGA, where UGA played a top-30 team in UF.

We're still bitter as hell from shitting the bed against LSU in 2001 at the SECCG and missing the title game at the Rose Bowl.

SEC teams never know what it's like to practice and play in the cold!!!

One of the most talented teams in Tennessee history, and the enduring memories from it are "hobnail boot" and "Lulu and Junior."

The start of LSU's rise as a national power as well. That was their first SEC championship game appearance, and was a minor miracle in its own right.
LSU was 4-3 overall, and 2-3 in the SEC after Eli Manning shredded them in Baton Rouge the last weekend in October. They needed to win out and have about five other things click into place throughout November to reach the SECCG, and somehow everything did. They played Auburn in what amounted to the SEC semifinals the first weekend in December (LSU-Auburn and Florida-Tennessee had both been rescheduled from the week after 9/11 and wound up as winner-take-all games for the division titles) and beat them in what I think is still the most intense atmosphere I've ever seen in a stadium.

I know that season is a sore subject for Tennessee fans, and the SEC championship game is often pointed to as the beginning of a long decline, but for LSU fans it's the exact opposite. Not the best team they've ever had, but a beloved one that finally turned the corner and put the program on the national map for years to come.

I don’t see how “Playoff tickets sell out; scalpers want much more than face value” is a surprising outcome.

From the sound of it, the season ticket holders didn't get much of a chance to buy the tickets first. Then, as soon as they went on sale to the public, the bots snatched them up and jacked up the prices. So they didn't "sell out" in the traditional sense.
