I always liked watching that and Bar Rescue, and Googling the places to see what they were doing now. Seems a monster majority of them would be closed within 6 months of them coming in to "save" the business. Often sooner than that.

Can't easily find a clip of it, but Charles Huff had a great quote from his introductory press conference at Southern Miss on Thursday:

Pioneer Woman just comes off as weird to me. Then again gingers don’t have souls anyways.

That may be the reason Bar Rescue has started to feature more stories where the bar was the victim of a catastrophe outside its control (Covid, a big storm, nearby factory closing, etc.) and fewer of the ones where the owners and staff are fuckups and Teffer yells at them a lot. Fuckups don't change just because they get product placements.

Can't easily find a clip of it, but Charles Huff had a great quote from his introductory press conference at Southern Miss on Thursday:

“There will be a recruiting weekend next weekend like you’ve never seen before. There’s going to be fireworks, helicopters, hot air balloons. Not because that stuff matters, but because those kids are that important to what we’re trying to build. Typically when you propose to your wife you don’t it at Hooters with a beer. You go all out and set it up and make it feel special.”

Totally a threadjack, but whatev: My wife's niece's boyfriend is proposing next weekend, and all the family has been invited. Niece's mother has hired a photographer and there's going to be a post-engagement party. This will be in addition to another engagement party in niece's hometown and another where she went to college and endless showers and brunches and blah blah blah.

When I asked Mrs. Flip to marry me 28 years ago, it was on the couch in my apartment after I had cooked dinner for her. No fanfare, no audience, no damn photographer. This is a stupid trend that needs to stop. I'm 100 percent sure that my daughter will not do anything like that if she ever gets married, and my son's girlfriend - if they stay together - will shut that crap down real quick.

Take it to the engagements and weddings thread (that doesn’t exist but should).

Also you could let people enjoy things. And why wouldn’t she be your niece as well?

It could have been worse. They could have thrown in a gender reveal party as well.

When my niece got married in the spring, it was very non-traditional. A civil service in Davis on Friday for all their college buds, reception for friends and fam at their place in Petaluma on Saturday.

I'm on an original Japanese Iron Chef bender thanks to a Prime 24 hour stream channel and as I watched it I was thinking if the success of this show on FN led or sped the turning Food Network into Game Show Network, food division.
