I can't blame you for the idiocy which looms over us or my visceral reaction to it.

It honestly creeps me out that the US in now one of those countries the rest of the world has to worry about. I'm used to us bossing people around and ruffling feathers of our allies, but I thought it was always done with good intentions, if not great "grace." Obviously more than a few exceptions in the last 100 years. But now? I kind of feel like we aren't that different from Russia, just the muscle for the oligarchs.

I do hope Pelosi is ok after her fall - and if people want to keep electing old folks to represent them, that is their right. But I do think the parties would be wise to enforce a retirement from Congressional and Senate leadership positions and committee chairs. Maybe 70? 72?
Pelosi actually surprised me that she stepped aside (while retaining significant sway) as Dem Leader - but both parties are being crippled by allowing their leadership to stay on so long. Obviously this should go for the Presidency as well.

If I were making a totally uneducated guess for investment I’d look at REITs for residential properties (not commercial). They probably won’t have the outstanding growth of the last few years, but I could see residential real estate in general being relatively OK. People still have to live somewhere.

Your criticism is valid but the Dems have been addressing this.

In the Senate, to your point, new blood is desired. Chuck Schumer is 74 but still pretty effective. But Dick Durbin is 80, Jeff Merkley is 68, Patty Murray is 74, Mark Warner 69, Elizabeth Warren 75 and Tammy Baldwin 62. I will point out the name Senate is derived from the Latin "senior," which means "older."

But the House leadership has lots of upside. Hakeem Jeffries is still a puppy at 54, Minority Whip Catherine Clark is 61, Caucus Chairman Pete Aguilar is 45, and Vice Caucus Chairman Ted Lieu is 55.

My god, he/they have got to be kidding.

Just how stupid, purposely troublesome and genuinely dangerous is this administration going to be? No rules, no respect for laws/legislation already on the books, no recovery, probably, for this country. And they get to run the place!
