First time since 2005 that none of the top 10 vote-getters were from the SEC. There wasn't a dominant player in the league this season, but I thought Jalen Milroe or Jaxson Dart might have gotten some consideration as good quarterbacks putting up lots of stats on good teams.

The "sad" thing is that if he had been like everyone else and transferred to a powerhouse program that needed a running back he probably wins it

I would like to see the NCAA, bowl alliance, bowl commission, whoever is in charge of such things issue a statement Monday morning that Marshall will not get a bowl bid next year, regardless of record, as penalty for refusing to play this year.
Do it while they are trying to rebuild the team.

Up next: the Trump Bible Bowl and the Happy Memorial Day! Bowl.

I’m ok with the Military Bowl and would be even more so if it were a one-off. They play it at the Naval Academy and that’s worth honoring, even if Blue Crab Bowl would be more fun. But a thin veneer of Murica! elsewhere to get people to watch a .500 MAC team versus a .500 Sun Belt team is exploitation.

With the demise of the Blue-Grey game, how about a game featuring nothing but players in the portal to show their skills. Players leaving SEC/Big 10 teams vs. players leaving everyone else.

Apropos of nothing, I could enjoy a December game experience in Annapoils as easily as just about anywhere else. I saw SMU come in there about seven years ago, and it was a great atmosphere.

The Independence Bowl can get any sponsor it wants, but in my heart it will always be the Poulan Weedeater Bowl.

I wonder if the bowl subtly suggested to Marshall to pull out. They might have had four coaches and only 60 players.

But your overall point is right, the bowls/NCAA need some sort of criteria to even be selected for a bowl above and beyond the current 6-6 record. Call it the Marshall Plan, if you will. The younger generation might even learn something.

I'd just like to see some kind of consequences for teams and/or players who don't dance with the one who brought them.
I kind of feel for Marshall. They are sort of over a barrel with more or less no team. I wouldn't have an issue, or at least as much of one, if a team declined up front.

Marshall won its conference. Hard to see a scenario where they would not get invited somewhere.
