How do you feel about the opinion in this particular column? Is he wrong? Or might this be a case of the broken clock being right twice a day, etc?

At least one of his suggestions is absurd. When he implies that Alabama opposes the December transfer portal and others support it, he's way off base. Everybody hates it.

 

I literally do not read his stuff now. Just see the insipid headlines on AL.com, shake my head and move on.

At the start of the month he had a column basically proclaiming the sky is falling at Auburn. This week he had one saying they would make the playoff before Alabama does. Just ridiculous contradictions and hot takes to see what sticks to the wall. I can’t stress enough how little respect I have for him.

 

The notion that Auburn will make the playoff before Alabama returns to it smacks of fanboi malaise.
Also: He's not doing any favors to anybody who wants to disabuse the rest of the country of the notion that Alabama is a bunch of hicks who will never accept anybody from outside their climate zone. He's already trying to kill the first-year coach of the Tide.

 

I don't know how college fb coaches and their families handle this time of year. The recruting of HS athletes, potential moves to new jobs at a moment's notice have to be brutal. But with the Portal now - my goodness. You lose a dozen players in a couple of days, you grab two, you lose three. It has to be nuts. And you wonder how many players enter the portal right before the grades hit and they lose their eligibility, or maybe a legal situation suddenly develops and you want to sign with a new team before it becomes public.

 

Tark would've been proud of that two-handed chest pass.

 

You wonder how many of these players demand an extra C-note in the tip jar to go do the community service bit or visit a children’s hospital on a bowl trip.

 

Brilliant. Only thing missing was the “With that having been said, ….”

 

I will just say that it reinforces everything I have ever thought about Danny Kanell that he misspelled his own name at the bottom of that post.
