Can't forget my man Duke, either. Every speech of his makes me want to run through a goddamn brick wall.

If any of you have somehow not seen Paddy Chayefsky's "Network", you should seek it out, and if it's been a while, re-watch it. It is absolutely prescient about the power of corporations and in particular the perils of corporate news for profit. It seemed over the top when it came out - but no longer.

Beatrice Straight had almost nothing to do in this movie, until she won a Best Supporting Oscar for these intense few minutes.

It never could have made a Disney movie, but supposedly Brooks' greatest locker room speech came in the second intermission of the 1980 final game against Finland, in which the U.S. trailed 2-1.

Because of the Olympic medals format, had they lost, the U.S. would not only not have won the gold, but might not have medaled at all.

Brooks, who rarely if ever swore in front of the team, entered the room and stood silent with arms folded for a minute.

"Boys," he started, "you've done everything you needed to do. But if you lose this game, you'll take it to your fucking graves."

He turned and started for the door, then turned back.

    "Your fucking graves."

    Slam.

Not sure why this came to mind. Probably a coincidence. Might delete later.

I don't really classify it as a "speech" but the winner is obviously:
