Same way Ken O'Brien, who had a fine NFL career, gets used as the inept selection of the 1983 QB Draft when Todd Blackledge went ahead of Jim Kelly and Dan Marino.

I really don't understand why a judge declared that JUCO time doesn't count against an NCAA eligibility - is there anything preventing them from getting NIL money at the JUCO level?

NIL has nothing to do with it. It's because junior colleges aren't a part of the NCAA structure and the argument is that attending those schools should count towards a school that is a part of the NCAA, where those eligibility limits are enforced. It has always been assumed that way, whatever college seasons you played are equal and would be deducted from your time at an NCAA school. This lawsuit said that shouldn't be the case since Podunk Junior College isn't governed by the NCAA.

Yeah, but if having to absorb that many potatoes in that short a time span can give you gas, isn't that the next logical step?

As a Dolphins fan I saw O'Brien go mano a mano with Marino in a few crazy shootouts, Blackledge certainly never did that.

That Blackledge pick set the Chiefs franchise back for decades.

    Decades.

Bedford Falls after the bank run had more pep and vitality than tonight’s Hawaii Bowl.

They made the playoffs seven times in eight years from 1990-97. During that stretch they got to the AFC championship game once and had home field advantage (which they infamously screwed up) twice.
They were even between 7-10 wins for most of the 2000s.

Blackledge might have hurt them for a few years, but they recovered pretty well.
