Boston College is out-Nebraska-ing Nebraska so far. Other than running back a blocked PAT, the Eagles are spinning their wheels on offense.

And to listen to the announcers talk about how excited they are to be there and end their bowl drought.

Tom Osborne has got to be wondering what the fuck is going on.

Either Mora is a great coach, or Belichick is gong to have to spend a lot more NIL money to be competitive.

For those of us of a certain generation (OK, Boomer!) today's Pinstripe and Fenway bowls are exactly what football on a grass field looked like in November and December in the Northeast, before synthetic surfaces. It was wet, it got muddy, the uniforms got grass-stained and dirty. Often times there was also a baseball infield at one end.

Check out some photos from the 1964 or 1965 NFL championship games, at Cleveland and Green Bay, or the 1964 AFL championship game in Buffalo. Or Gale Sayers' 6-TD game against San Francisco, or any NYG late-season game in the Tarkenton era.

It's an old-school look, and I kind of like it.

ABC might have handed out the Pinstripe Player of the Game award too early, BC making a comeback.

Alamo Bowl? I'll take Mexico over Crockett State in a shutout.

Not muddy, but think back to the old multi-purpose stadiums: Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Cincinnati, St. Louis, Oakland.

And Candlestick after they ripped the turf out.

TCU's school colors are purple and white. So they bust out gray uniforms with red numbers and silver helmets for the bowl.

Iowa State (cardinal & gold) unveils its black "Tribute to the Hawkeyes" combo: Black plants, black numbers and black helmets.

    WTF.

Southern Miss stole Iowa’s logo so Iowa State stole their uniforms and helmets. It all makes sense on some level (I have never been on).

But the Texans win the rematch a month later in the San Jacinto Independence Bowl.
