I was just being snarky. At the moment it happened, I thought the announcers had messed up when they said there was no returner. How could that be? The only question would be if the returner would try to be a hero and run it back or make a fair catch and give him team a chance with one scrimmage play.
Imagine the uproar if he was at Alabama or Notre Dame and made the same ridiculous mistake. I haven't read any postgame explanation, but I would like to hear what he says about it during his next job interview.

I too was shocked. You have to at least have one guy back there to fair catch the punt and stop the clock, even if there were only 2-3 seconds left.

Is this the first day without football on TV in six weeks?

How about a rule that you get one free transfer, and after that you have to sit out a year to be eligible. Does not apply to the grad transfers.

The Peach Bowl this year covered for a lot of the ills of the other games. I'm no Bevo fan, but that was awesome.

    Wasn’t that a playoff game?

Somebody keep dixie away from the sharp instruments. Keith is the new voice of the Vols.

The saying is you never want to be the guy who follows the legend in coaching, but it kind of applies to radio play by play too. I never thought Bob Kesling got the praise from Vols fans he deserved because he committed the unforgivable sin of not being John Ward. I did not realize he retired.

My dirty little secret is I will hate-listen to the Vol Network if I’m out driving. I’m rooting against them at all times and occasionally letting profanity slip out in an empty car but I listen because it reminds me of where I grew up. (Bert Bertlekamp can suck it though, and I don’t see how he’s still around to do basketball color commentary when he has to be 209 years old by now.)

As for the Titans, they very well may have pissed away my last emotional connection to the team.

Kesling was unfairly criticized for the reason you cited, though having craptastic teams --- especially football --- for much of his time there meant he was speaking to an already angry contingent of fans.

Was better at basketball than football. Would be fine with me if Bertlekamp hit the road.

Keith should have gotten the job when Kesling did.
I've never given two hoots about the Titans. Not too many people east of the plateau do.
