I hope you enjoy Obama’s year-end curated lists of music and movies and Netflix documentaries for years to come. They are a cherished and lasting legacy of the 44th President of the United States.

Never really looked at them. And Obama was way more centrist than the foaming mad dog right ever realized.

I’m racing towards nihilism myself, but it seems pretty clear to me that there were and are different outcomes to the course of America based on who the president is. John McCain or Mitt Romney were not going to produce the same America that Obama did. Hillary Clinton was not going to produce the same America Donald Trump did. The past four years would have looked very different if they were Trump’s second term versus the Biden administration.

Not really looking for a fight over this but I don’t really see it the same way you do.

Oh, I don’t see it as a fight. I just think he’s a small footnote in American history now. A blip before Trumpism and then a second Guilded Age dominated by tech companies. His inane post-Presidency is just the whipped topping to it all.

End the war, stop torture, hold the banks accountable, bring down the cost of healthcare. It was his mandate, and he expanded the first, didn’t do the second, didn’t try to do the third and tried his damndest and failed on the fourth. And then he helped make sure everything he did accomplish would be washed away heading into 2016. He helped turn the DNC into the party of big business donors, which did nothing for the party electorally. Under his leadership, the party lost its entire working class base. He holed himself up in the Oval, refusing to engage even his own party leadership. He — for the sake of a comedy routine — egged Donald Trump into the 2016 election, which he set up by putting his fingers on the scale for Clinton and setting off a three-cycle primary system that was never truly open.

It’s not an argument between us because he’s no longer worth arguing about. He had so much potential. He really did. If he takes the energy of 2008 and actually makes the banks account for their part of the collapse, I truly believe Trumpism never happens. The anger of people never seeing justice after they lost their jobs and homes and feeling of security metastasized as this ugly, bigoted nihilism we’ve never stopped developing since.

I’m open to other interpretations. That’s where I am right now.

OK I still don’t see it that way but I can much more clearly see the logic behind your position now. We straight.

Talk to me in a few weeks and I’ll have a completely different opinion. I’m infuriating.

Much like Bubba was just Reagan-Lite, but since El Rushbo labeled him a crazy liberal, that was the moniker he wore. It was Clinton's deregulation of the banks that got hung on Dubya when the housing industry collapsed. Republicans want to speed to the destination at 90 miles an hour while Democrats are happy to cruise to it at the speed limit, but the car is heading to the same place.

“Hey Barack, you believe that Melania still hasn’t divorced me after all that stuff about Stormy? Joke’s on her, She’s really going to love living in the White House again. I don’t really care, do you?”
