Fire heading toward the top of Mount Wilson, which is where most of Los Angeles' communications antennae for media, law enforcement and other emergency responders are located.

We haven't been above freezing since Tuesday and won't be until Sunday.
With the storm approaching, apparently every single school system across Tennessee has already called off for Friday.

JPL appears right in the crosshairs of the Eaton Fire if it doesn't get distracted going at Mount Wilson.

I think we average less than 2 inches per year. We usually get freezing rain then sleet then a thin layer of snow. But since it’s been below freezing since Sunday afternoon, we got to skip the really bad stuff. Thankfully.

Of course, I have once again failed to get from cross country skis in the two years since the last appreciable snowfall. I’ve always thought that would be a fun way to tour the neighborhood.

North Texas normally gets one good winter storm a year, and by good I mean like today, more than just a dusting. 2021 was unusual because we had a decent and picturesque snow the second week in January, and we thought we were done. Little did we know.

Those fires are trying to turn California back into a desert.

OK, I know everything is politics these days, and I know California and SoCal is a target rich environment for righties, but how are Newsom and Bass responsible for the destructive fires? Bass was in Africa when the fires broke out, is that the problem? It's not like there haven't been destructive fires in LA before, or that there will be others in the future. Is this just righties feeling their oats and looking for someone to blame on something like this? What ever happened to the "thoughts and prayers and now is not the time" responses we usually hear from righties after tragedies?
I was the only person in the Oakland Tribune newsroom when the Oakland Hills erupted in '90. EVERY phone in there was ringing, I answered as many as I could. People said - Hey, you guys know the Oakland Hills are on fire? I said yes, we had a reporter and a photog out doing a folo on a brush fire that happened the day before. There were no windows for me to see for myself and TV hadn't broken in to cover it yet. I assumed the reporter and photog were in contact with the editors, not knowing just how bad it was. But the city editor was majorly pissed at me for not calling him, months later we finally had it out and I explained how it was for me, and we were cool. ANYWAY, the point was people said they should never rebuild there and NOW there are probably more homes up there than there were before the fire. Like I said, I would love to hear if there was factual arguments that Bass and Newsome have their fingerprints on this one.
