When Russ threw the ball into the endzone, to a receiver covered by FOUR Ravens, I have to think some other Steeler must have been open, yes? Horrendous decision.
Every few years, there must be an opportunity to do this. Heard a really good multi-part podcast on the Ray Lewis-Atlanta affair a year or so ago. Of course, I can't remember its name. But as I recall, it concluded: 1) Lewis probably didn't deliver lethal blow. 2) He was probably in the limo at the time. 3) He almost certainly knew more than he was forced to reveal. 4) The DA probably threw the case. 5) The NFL heavily influenced the DA's decision to deliver a less-than-vigorous prosecution.
So can people safely dismount the Justin Herbert bandwagon at this point in his career? Pro Football Reference has his HOF "worthiness" between Bobby Hebert and DeShaun Watson. Pro Football QB Hall of Fame Monitor | Pro-Football-Reference.com
Yup. He made a few in that game and quite a few over the last five. It seemed like a lock that the Steelers would want him back a month ago, but he showed why he needs to go. There was a shot to Pickens on the left sideline or to Freirmuth over the middle. Neither was wide open, but they certainly had a better shot than the shortest guy on the field against triple coverage.
Just saying, at some point he's not a "young QB" anymore. It's not like he's played well in either of his playoff games.
The Rooneys better take a long, honest, candid look at what’s going on. That Steelers roster is not be talented enough, and the fact that they were outclassed again shouldn’t be a surprise since no one confused them for an elite NFL team. The most expensive defense in the NFL got embarrassed, and the offense hasn’t changed one bit. Time to be bold. Tinkering won’t cut it this offseason.
So, who you replacing him wit who is betterh? Because if you get rid of him there are 31 other teams that will get in line to hire him.
No, there aren't. There are certainly some teams that would be thrilled to hire him, but many that are quite happy with what they have. Tomlin has been there a long time. He is still a hell of a coach, but collapsing late in the season has become a pattern. So is having his team show up unprepared and get its ass kicked in the playoffs. They weren't just outplayed by the Ravens. Tomlin was outcoached. His coordinators were outmatched and that's on Tomlin He chose them. At the very least, the staff needs a major overhaul and so does the roster. They need a quarterback for 2025. They need a running back because Harris is gone. The defense is aging and in desperate need of some upgrades up front. They have one receiver worth a damn and he's a head case. They may be a playoff team, but they are a long way from being a real championship contender and it has been that way for a long time now.
