If they have enough money to pay the players the way Ray Meyer did back in the day, they might crawl their way out of the cellar.
The SEC has had three really good games in Nashville today and people’s overwhelming memory of the day is going to be the basketball terrorists in stripes. Review after review after foul fest after review. Throw in a double OT game for fun and you have the absurdity of Kentucky-Oklahoma now pushed back to an estimated 9:42 Central tip - more than an hour behind the intended time. There will be a couple of dozen fatal wrecks in the Commonwealth tomorrow morning caused by Cats fans driving drowsy to work. Officiating is not great anywhere but SEC games get bogged down the most with the interminable ref shows. Be nice if Greg Sankey could take a couple of days off from world conquest and fix this.
Hell of a finish to a hell of a day in Nashville. Oklahoma scored seven points in 30 seconds — the hard way, with two steals and no fouls — to take an 84-83 lead with 5.6 to go, and then Kentucky scores the game-winner with 0.5 left.
So happy I took today off as a recovery day. Going to enjoy the hell out of binging on college hoops today. Games that have my eye: * VCU vs. St. Bonaventure at 11:30 a.m. on USA. Duh. * Kennesaw State vs. Liberty at 12:30 p.m. on CBSSN. Owls just beat the Flames in Lynchburg, so this will be no walk in the park for LU. * Saint Louis vs. Loyola Chicago at 2 p.m. on USA. Winner gets the winner of VCU-Bona. Billikens started to really put it together toward the end of the year and recently crushed the Ramblers by 31 points. * Texas vs. Tennessee at 3:30 p.m. on ESPN. The Longhorns can probably seal an at-large with a win her. * Marquette vs. St. John's at 6:30 p.m. on FOX. MSG should be rocking for this one. * UNC vs. Duke at 7 p.m. on ESPN. Assuming Flagg is out of this one. UNC can probably seal a bid with a win. * UC Santa Barbara vs. UC San Diego at 9 p.m. on ESPN+. Have not watched the Tritons this year, will try to tune in and check them out.
