Who is Hanrahan?

Tonight I had the occasion to watch both "Fletch" and "Slap Shot" (which qualifies as a fine day, I must say), and it leaves me wanting to know more about this mythical Hanrahan.

In Fletch, we know only about his sexual proclivities:

"Somebody's bucking for a promotion. Probably that pederast Hanrahan."

In Slap Shot, we learn that he's a minor league goalie with the Ducks whose wife sucks pussy.

"Fuck him. Hanrahan's an ape. I knew it would piss the shit out of him. But she's a fantastic gal, I mean fantastic!"

Discuss.

 

I can't get through the Slap Shot scene where Newman's character is yelling at Hanrahan from behind the net without laughing hysterically.

"She's a dyke! I know!"

 

I heard there is a bounty on his head.

My bad, I'm confusing him with Dr. Hook.

Most sports movies suffer from built-in issues which drag them down. Not this baby.

 

I disagree. The lack of political correctness has not stood the test of time, which makes the movie so much better every time I see it.
