    From The Pipeline:

Andrea Adelson, who has become one of the nation’s leading voices on college sports during her time at the Sentinel, is leaving to become national college football blogger at ESPN.com. Andrea has done some fantastic work since arriving at the Sentinel in 2006, including winning top-10 national APSE awards in 2008 and 2009 and winning the Sentinel’s storyteller of the year award for 2007. For the past year and a half, she’s served as our national college football columnist and played a huge role in the phenomenal growth of the College Gridiron 365 blog. We’re going to miss her, but she won’t be too far away. Her new job allows her to stay in Orlando. Andrea’s last day will be July 30.

She did a tremendous job covering the Butch Davis years at Miami.

A significant loss for those of us who like to use her stuff via MCT.

Is there a cooler job out there than these ESPN blogger gigs?

    The answer is no.

Andrea was a fantastic in that role here in Orlando and is a spectacular hire for ESPN.com. Very, very happy for Andrea. She will indeed be missed here at the Sentinel.

Anticipating a question, yes, we hope to hire. But let's save that discussion for another thread. This one is about Andrea, whose great work deserves the attention.

So, ESPN.com has Maisel, Forde, Schalabach as its front-line pitchers
Everyday lineup of bloggers for each BCS conference plus a non-BCS blogger and now a national blogger in Andrea Adelson.
When you're pulling $400 million per month in cable subscriber fees, you make the Yankees look like the Royals.

ESPN has a lineup that sounds a lot more impressive than it actually is.

Schlabach can't break a story if it doesn't happen in Georgia. Forde isn't being used properly. His stuff is great if he's writing about college football or college basketball, but highly mediocre if he's writing about something else. Maisel is a legend, but doesn't break news.

The Adelson hire is great because ESPN hired her to do for them exactly what she was doing in Orlando.

What I want to know is how ESPN hasn't hired Chip Brown away from Rivals.

I expect he'll be with them in the not-too-distant future.

Still mourning Andrea's departure from AP. She was great to work with and just a very cool person.

    Congratulations pal.
