I am a military veteran and a sports journalist. I have written for weekly and daily publications, most recently the Visalia Times-Delta and the Salinas Californian.
My love for sports began at a young age. As I entered my sophomore year at Hoover High School in Fresno, California, I took that love for sports and joined the student newspaper. During my three years on staff, I took over the sports reporting scene for the school.
After serving six years in the military – which included a tour to Afghanistan in 2009-2010 with the 670th MP Company out of National City, California – I returned to school and completed my degree in journalism at California State University, Fresno in 2014.
From there, I began my journalism career at a couple of small-town papers before ending up at the Salinas Californian in 2015. I then transitioned to the Californian's sister newspaper, the Visalia Times-Delta toward the end of 2015 as a public safety reporter.
I returned to sports reporting at the beginning of 2016. It was at that time that I began to build a following in Tulare, California covering prep sports. I also wrote stories on Oakland A's catcher Stephen Vogt, covered Tim Lincecum's return to the majors with the Anaheim Angels and was assigned to cover home games of Fresno State football in Tim DeRuyter's last season.
I am currently in the process of establishing my own sports site, www.sidelinechronicles.com, that will cover prep and junior college sports as well as provide commentary on events happening in the professional sports world.Interact
